Explains how to turn foundation models into applications, with attention to tools, planning, evaluation and the cost of running the system.
Why read Chip Huyen?
Huyen gives you a route from an application’s task to the parts that need to work together. Her Agents chapter defines the environment and available actions, then walks through planning, tool selection and failures. It is useful before selecting a framework because you can first decide what the agent actually needs to observe and change.
Her production engineering article connects those ideas to versioned prompts, test examples and composed tasks. Read the design questions as a method for evaluating an application; the 2023 model names, API prices and latency measurements describe that period. Her newer book and agent chapter continue the application-building perspective.
